I have a few more shows this month, one THIS Friday even (see below for times and location). I am also very excited to announce that I’ll be playing in Newport Beach the first Friday in November. For that show I’ll be playing with a band! We’ll be three: a stand-up bass, guitar, and keys. I’m super excited. Our show is at Sol Grill, right next to the Newport Pier. A word to the wise: I’ve played there once before and learned that it’s best to have a reservation if you’re wanting to sit down to dinner. It’s a popular spot and not very large.

An update on my Fall ‘hoping-to-do’ list….I’ve spent an afternoon playing around with garage band recording a Christmas song, been spending some time writing new music, and taking guitar lessons!! (I’m loving it…AND I have proof…see the wee callouses on my left-hand fingertips.) I’ve been to a few open mics, seen a musical version of Alice in Wonderland…I didn’t really get it, so then I read Alice in Wonderland…I still don’t get it.  Bought the new Sara Bareilles album. Started playing through a Jamie Abersold book (jazz improv), learned a little Chopin, a little bit of Journey. Have done a terrible job keeping up with things on facebook, waited a week longer than I thought I should to write this email, and still have photos and live recordings to sift through to put up on the web. Aye! (is there such thing as a technological kick in the pants?)

The biggest thing that’s changed for me this month is setting aside scheduled TIME TO PRACTICE. It’s been delightful! (my students would think I’m crazy!) However, it has been what’s allowed me to learn new songs, write, play jazz, record, etc. I was practicing before, but definitely more haphazardly. So it has been LIFE to my musical soul to set aside intentional time to work, grow and play. Yey practicing!

So that’s me in a nutshell…how’d I get in this nutshell? I so enjoyed hearing what’s been going on for some of you. So please keep me updated, as well.
